Justin Shapiro- Allure of color

These pictures are different screen shots from the latest Prius ads being shown on television. As far as color allure is concerned, this car company could not be promoting a better color spectrum or usage.
There is a solid gestalt principle throughout every inch of the frame for each screen shot. By definition of gestalt being a unified whole about every element of the picture, Prius achieves this by transforming every piece of the ad into corresponding costumes for people wearing them. As part of their 'going green' policy, by having people take the places of trees, grass, even leaves and butterflies, Prius shows the life and individualistic breakdown for each bit of color.
Also, the colors used are all very complementary to one another, creating a comfortable norm for aesthetics. The fact that they use a silver car throughout the whole ad is genius for as we discussed in class, gray is a color of technology, although Prius is also promoting its green policy. Along with that is also the fact that we discussed from the quiz that gray is the most universal color for matching any colors together. Bravo to Prius for the excellent use of color in their ads.

  1. Sweet example - I love that they use people to paint the landscapes.
