The logo for Chili’s Grill & Bar is one that has always stood out to me. The dark green font with the red chili on top of the “i” and “s” is very strong and enticing. It reminds me of spicy food, and the red really stands out, especially from a distance. And though it’s hard to tell from this picture, if you drive past a Chili’s restaurant from afar, you can see the green from a mile away. The color combination is very strong, and it is obvious that the two colors create a harmonious and tempting bond. The rounded, sans serif letters in the logo are very simple and look as though they could be listed on an easy-to-read menu. The “h” and “l” connect, making a bowl-like depression which the first “i” fits into. Not only does this look like the letter “i” is being served on a platter, but it adds depth to the visual of the logo. It makes people driving by look at it that extra second or two. This could be the deciding second for a meal! The dots over the two “i”s are more oval-shaped than rounded, which mocks the shape of the body of the chili and creates a gestalt of repetition. The logo and name of the restaurant itself are also very clever because another version of the logo is simply the picture of the red chili with an “s” at the end. The two logos give off the same exact effect, and both make me eager to eat there!
