For this week I chose to use the promo Ad for the new Michael Jackson documentary, "This is It." I thought that the poster was really nicely done and used the gestalt principles effectively. This first one I noticed was the use of figure/ground. When the designers made Michael into this graphical silhouette, they really differentiated him from the background, which really made him stand out on the poster. I also like how they made some closure at the top of the poster, and gave the text it's own little space without defining it completely. They also did a good job with the text and its proximity to each other. It's very readable and neat, which is an important factor when using gestalt principles.
