Jen Brotman- Badly Used Type

This is the cover of a book I recently came across. I consider this a perfect example of badly used type. The inconsistency is the biggest problem. There are randomly placed large capital letters that are bigger than the x-height of the other letters. They are as big if not bigger than the first letters of the words. Also, the capital letters do not all sit on the same baseline as each other. There is also inconsistency within the subtitle because there are drop caps on some of the words but not all, such as the word "tales." Another problem is that there are satirical and modern stories within this book, but the font does not lead one to think this because of the decorative initial cap and the serif typeface. Creating more consistency and using a more modern typeface, such as a sans serif font, would improve this type.
