When I first saw this advertisement on the Yahoo home page, I was not impressed by the rounded type as well as its difficulty to read. The shadows on the letters cause the graphic to be even harder to see as well as a distraction to the design of the letters itself. As soon as I enlarged the ad, I couldn't help from chuckling at the originality and design of the individual grapefruits which make up the letters. I was also happy to see the contrasting yet pleasing colors used (aqua blue-yellow-pink).
An issue with the text is seen in Lupton's book when she discusses the appropriate use of the flush left/ragged right alignment. It states that a text which falls into weird shapes along the right edge (as seen in the SUN-RYPE ad) does not serve the purpose of a hard left edge. The graphic here does have a hard left side and a stair shaped right side. Although Lupton does not believe that texts should systematically decrease, this graphic does use the soft right edge. This alignment balances out the juice bottle in the bottom right corner.
With all of that said, I would have to say that I do like the graphic and its correct use of space and color.
