Alignment Issues with Cowboys & Indians Layout

Throughout Lupton's chapter, "Text," she writes about typography and its use. One major component of using typography well with design is alignment. Tonight I was still searching for that one example of poor use and I opened the Cowboys & Indians magazine my grandparents had in their living room in Texas (you probably wouldn't find this magazine in New York).

(Although I am a photographer, this is just a camera phone snap - forgive me.)

C&I, I think, tried to be creative with their justification and alignment, but they failed. There needs to be some consistency with the paragraphs of type and there is none. At first glance you think they are going from right justification to left justification and back again continuing that sequence, but they are not. Their header for the top paragraph is inconsistent with the way the other headers are in relation to the ones that are right justified.

This could have been improved if the designer would have stayed with a more consistent use for the type so the user would be aware of the redundancy allowing him or her to follow along easier.
