I found this snowboarding magazine layout very interesting because it does not follow traditional rules, but is very eye catching and interesting. It is not symmetrical, and embraces disharmony to add interest. The picture that goes directly across the article is also escaping grid boundaries by going across all the text. This spread uses images mostly to create a visually stimulating lay out. By using the "illustrating areas" technique, the magazine can use pictures to disorder to the article, and to make it more exciting. The creative idea to make the image go diagonally across the page balances out the very structured look of the columns of text. As the concept states, the visuals create opposing forces to create an odd sense of balance that is stimulating. I was immediately drawn to its appearance, and interesting visuals.
